This Sunday at Trinity

All Saints’ Day

When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain; and after he sat down, his disciples came to him. Then he began to speak, and taught them, saying:

"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

"Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

"Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.

"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

"Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

"Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

Christian Mysticism: History, Theory, and Practice

The rector’s class will be focusing on Christian Mysticism, not only how the practice of contemplation changed throughout the centuries through key figures such as Origen, Augustine, Hildegard, Theresa of Avila, and Thomas Merton, but also how to apply prayer and contemplation your own life. Presentations will be held Thursdays in the Trinity Parish House and on Zoom at 10am, beginning Thursday, September 24 and running through November 12.

Twilight Meditation Walk at St. Helena’s Meditation Meadow

As part of our broader celebration of the holy days that come at the end of October and the beginning of November, we will be hosting a Twilight Meditation Walk at St. Helena’s Meditation Meadow (245 New Lenox Rd). Join us on Friday, October 30 at 6pm for a guided meditation around the meadow with some time for fellowship after the walk.

This service alternates between contemporary and traditional language, and our prayers are accompanied by organ music during the service.
