Music has been a part of Christian worship since the beginning. Today, we have inherited an incredible body of music throughout the ages. The texts of many of these hymns reflect the spiritual challenges and needs of the communities for which they were written. In this Lent series, we will be looking at some of these hymns to better understand the experiences of Christians who have gone before us.

Each session will include a small selection of hymns curated the rector as well as special requests from participants. We will look at who wrote these texts as well as the circumstances of Church at the time they were written.

The sessions will run on the Thursdays in Lent (2/19, 2/26, 3/5, 3/12, 3/19, 3/26). We will begin with a simple lunch at noon with discussion beginning around 12:30pm. Presentation and discussion will last about an hour.
