Outreach Report – October 2017

November 1, 2017

Christmas Fair Silver Tea – The Silver Tea is coming along. Six-eight people have attended each of the Wednesday workshops to work on various projects. Some of the 300 vintage Christmas ornaments donated by Jimmy Chervenak have been individually boxed to be sold. The rest will be used to decorate an 8’ foot tree for the parish house which will be the centerpiece of the Tea. We will have baked goods, plants, crafts, tea table, lunch and Expanding Opportunities will once again be with us. The proceeds will go to support “Gordon Clem” scholars in Kenya. Send-up signs will be posted very soon. Please plan to take part in this event.

Coat Drive – The Community Center is having a coat drive after Thanksgiving and parishioners are asked to donate to this project. Our Jesse Tree will go up by December 3 and any coats and jackets on the Jesse Tree will go to the Community Center.

Barton’s Crossing – In partnership with the Methodist Church Trinity will buy a freezer for Barton’s Crossing (transitional housing in Pittsfield). Our share will be about $400.
Cathedral of the Beloved – A goodly number of scarves and hats were blessed at the 10:30 service on October 22 and taken to Cathedral of the Beloved. PAL asked that $500 from Thelma’s LIttle Fund go to a Lenox family for medical expenses. PAL contributes to TLF.

Stop Hunger Now – The National Honor Society at Lenox High School is again doing Stop Hunger Now(now called Rise Against Hunger) and Matthew Heim requested a donation from Trinity. The event will be in the spring of 2018, but they hope to raise the necessary funds in 2017. Outreach voted to send $500.

Puerto Rico – It was decided to send Episcopal Relief and Development $1500 to support their efforts in Puerto Rico. We will hope to send additional funds before the end of the year.

Prayer Pilgrimage – Thank you to Michael for his leadership in organizing The Opioid Pilgrimage. The billboards, banners and Michael’s radio spots were excellent publicity. Thanks to Eileen for assisting Michael.
