JOURNEY to ADULTHOOD (J2A) is a program of Christian Formation for young people in grades 6-12. Trinity’s youth are currently enrolled in Rite 13, the first segment of this six year program. J2A uses Bible study, prayer, rites of passage, and outreach ministries as well as serious and playful activities to underscore its two guiding principles: (1) manhood and womanhood are free gifts from God; and (2) adulthood must be earned.

Rite 13 is the first part of J2A and explores the individuality and creative potential of each young person. During their middle school years these young people study units on self, society, sexuality, spirituality, and prayer, all within the context of the Gospel and with Jesus Christ as their model. The Rite-13 liturgy is much anticipated as a rite of passage from childhood towards adulthood.

J2A is designed to bring young people into full participation in the life of the congregation so they actually are the church of today instead of the church of the future. Periodically Trinity’s children and youth take leadership roles in Sunday morning services as ushers, lectors and more.
