Bishop’s retirement Eucharist

September 20, 2012

Trinity hosted Bishop Scruton’s retirement celebration and Eucharist in the Berkshires, which was attended by parishioners and clergy from around the county. The Eucharist was followed by a reception in the Parish House. There will be similar celebrations on September 30 in Holden, and October 7 at Christ Church Cathedral in Springfield.

First/last day on the job: Our new rector Rev. Michael Tuck and our retiring bishop Rt. Rev. Gordon P. Scruton in the narthex. Sunday, September 16 had been chosen for the bishop’s retirement Eucharist in the Berkshires long before Fr. Tuck knew it would the be day of his first Eucharists at Trinity. This quilt was presented to Bishop Scruton and his wife, Rebecca (at right). Panels were created by parishes in the diocese.
The sun streamed through the rose window at just the right moment to illuminate the procession at the end of the service.
